In birthday mood, one takes a backward look
At triumphs, peccadillos, and the rest---
Though citing your good works would take a book.
Yes, in your past there's little to revise;
Of worthy deeds by you there's been no dearth,
But reprint of your file one fact decries,
Not yet have you been paid what you are worth.
So as you celebrate three score and five,
Forget the spirit, it's the flesh that counts.
The next stage to surmount you will contrive,
And of your talents will not lose an ounce.
Of counsel you'll get much, some wise, some strange;
From us? Just this: be sure you never change.
