Birthday Poems 2
(these were for children of various ages)
Now Lily youre six and to tell you the truth
We all knew you would be some day.
So we want you to know just how happy we are,
And this little poem is our way.
When youre six youre not old but youre still not grown up;
Is it better than being a baby?
Well that all depends on the parents you have,
But the only true answer is maybe.
Six may not seem like a whole lot of years,
But its really a special amount.
And the number is magical in many ways,
No matter how high you can count.
Its two pairs of triplets or half of a year,
Or a litter of puppies or bears.
Its the number of lives of a cat (minus three),
Or the shoes a six-legged horse wears.
Its one less than seven but one more than five;
Its more stairs than you want to fall down.
Its the number of petticoats worn by the Queen
Beneath her most beautiful gown.
Half a foot is six (inches); half a dozens six too;
For small heads its the size of a hat.
And how many sides does a hexagon have?
Well, you know the answer to that!
Lily, you see how unusual six is,
As an age you will find it just fine.
Enjoy and have fun right through seven and eight,
And in no time at all youll be nine.
Were sure your sixth year will be merry and bright
As any sixth year we have seen;
So this is the message your grandparents send:
Happy birthday from Roger and Jean. |
