BIRTHDAY POEMS
(these were for children of various ages)
Cloudy weather chicken feather, air is free!
Alexandra Alexandra now you’re three!
Alexandra’s effervescent energetic too.
She is faster than a rabbit we all know that’s true.
Where is sister Jessica? She’s talking on the phone.
Poor neglected Alexandra has to play alone.
For the greatest older sister Jessica is it;
She takes care of you and feeds you when your parents split.
Little darling Alexandra how can you be three?
Younger than an alligator, too old for a flea.
Three’s the most important birthday after one and two;
From now on they’ll come much faster, trust us this is true.
Birthday party, cake and presents, family and friends;
You will be stuffed and exhausted when it finally ends.
Kitchen dishes, birthday wishes, duckies in the tub.
If you cry Michele will quickly give your back a rub.
Happy birthday Alexandra have a perfect day;
Eat your cake but not your presents, then just play.
For a youngest girl grandchild you’re the best we’ve seen;
Sally sends you hugs and kisses, also Grandpa Gene.
Now nine is not only an upside down six;
On thermometers, nine means IT’S COLD.
If you break nine fingers you’re in a bad fix;
And an age with two nines means YOU’RE OLD.
Nine inches is really quite tall for a flower;
Nine holes in a rowboat will sink it.
Nine lemons will make any liquid so sour,
That you just couldn’t make yourself drink it.
In baseball nine innings are one complete game,
Unless there’s a tie in the score.
But if no one gets runs then it’s really a shame,
You must play on until there’s one more.
Now Devin you’re nine, and the years went so fast
We can hardly believe they’ve gone by.
We’ll be able to give back your years that have passed
When we can make elephants fly.
So Devin we’re hoping that when this day’s through,
It will be the best birthday you’ve seen.
